Immature Stages of Stratiomyiidae

Detailed information on immature stages of Stratiomyiidae is being acquired. However, Clausen (1940) noted that the immature stages of soldier flies are found under varied conditions, some being aquatic and feeding on algae, small Crustacea, etc., and other live in decaying vegetable matter. Several species are found under the bark of trees where they feed, in part at least, on insect larvae.
